Fall/Winter 2023 Highlights-Spreading Kindness and Creating Memories at Do Good
As the leaves changed and the air grew crisper, Do Good continued its mission of spreading kindness and supporting families facing challenging circumstances. Here's a snapshot of our Fall/Winter highlights:
1. LJ Rineair's Journey:
LJ, a devoted Wildcat, faced a life-altering challenge at just 15—a silent brain tumor. We followed LJ's inspiring journey through surgery and therapy, highlighting the strength that emerges even in the face of unexpected trials.
2. Trunk or Treat with Hamilton Township:
The Hamilton Township Trunk or Treat was a monsterlicious success! Families gathered for a spooktacular time, creating lasting memories and sharing the joy of Halloween.
3. Spookyville Monster Mash:
During Morrow Arts Center's annual Spookyville event, Do Good hosted two nights of The Monster Mash—a kid-friendly costume dance party, adding a touch of magic to the Halloween festivities.
4. National Kindness Day - Lex and the 'Just Because' Flowers:
On National Kindness Day, Lex and her companion embarked on an adventure to spread kindness. A simple act of gifting flowers to a stranger illuminated the day, emphasizing the impact of small gestures in making the world a better place.
5. Whaley Family Fundraiser:
Becky faced an unexpected challenge when her youngest, Gigi, was diagnosed with Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome. To support the family, Do Good initiated a fundraiser, rallying the community around Gigi's treatment.
6. Do Good Chocolate Walk:
Partnering with the National Youth Advocacy Program, Do Good organized a Chocolate Walk to raise awareness for the foster care system. All ticket proceeds went towards buying gifts for local foster children during the holiday season.
7. Podcast Highlights:
Do Good expanded its podcast library with three new episodes. The first focused on foster care, featuring insights from experts, a dedicated foster parent, and a former foster child. The second introduced Ali, a resilient mother battling stage 4 breast cancer, radiating positivity despite the challenges.
8. Update on The Billman Family:
Do Good revisited its roots by catching up with its first family, the Billmans. Hearing from Hannah Grace, who overcame kidney cancer twice before turning 3, provided a heartwarming update on the family's journey.
9. Thanksgiving Meals and Operation Christmas Kindness:
Do Good partnered with Christ’s Church of Mason to provide free Thanksgiving meals to families in need. Operation Christmas Kindness continued its second year, delivering dozens of donuts to businesses open during the holiday weekend, spreading joy and gratitude.
10. Supporting Families for Christmas:
Two incredible families, the Kirklands and the Slagles, received Do Good's support for a memorable Christmas. The Kirklands, fostering six teenagers, had their Amazon wishlist fulfilled, while the Slagle family, overcoming health challenges, received a Christmas filled with generosity thanks to Cintas.
As the year drew to a close, Do Good continued to weave a tapestry of kindness, community, and support, setting the stage for more acts of goodness in the coming seasons. Here's to a new year filled with compassion, resilience, and the unwavering commitment to doing good. 🌟💙
