Meet Henry Thieken, a remarkable 10-year-old 5th grader from Little Miami who has been diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. His journey began with what seemed like typical leg pain, but it quickly escalated into a serious illness requiring intense medical care. Henry has already undergone three rounds of chemotherapy, with several more to go.

Because the chemotherapy attacks his blood counts, it has required Henry to remain hospitalized for weeks after treatment. He is often at the hospital for a month at a time with a brief week home before having to come back. Other than feeling isolated at times, Henry has done remarkably well with his treatments. He is hopeful to return to school this fall!

Despite the challenges, Henry remains a bright and creative soul. He loves building Legos, playing Fortnite, collecting Pokémon cards, and learning new tricks with his yo-yo. Henry also enjoys fishing, playing golf, roller skating, and riding roller coasters at Kings Island. He’s a huge fan of Mr. Beast and Unspeakable on YouTube, and he has a soft spot for his mini dachshund, Bubbles.

His family, including his parents Charlie and Jennifer and his younger brother Danny, have been by his side every step of the way. The Thieken Family loves camping, especially at Hocking Hills, going to FC Cincinnati soccer games, and visiting places like the zoo and aquarium.

Thanks to the incredible generosity of our community, we have raised over $11,000 for the Thieken Family. These funds will help ease the financial burden and ensure Henry gets the care he needs. But our support doesn’t stop there. We have a few surprises planned for Henry, that we will reveal during our podcast this summer!
