October 2024- Mollie
💗 Meet the Stauter Family: A Story of Strength, Love, and Community Support 💗
In October, as Breast Cancer Awareness Month began, we were honored to introduce you to Mollie Stauter—our newest Do Good Family and a woman whose strength continues to inspire everyone who meets her.
Mollie is a devoted mother of three, a loving wife, and a long-time warrior in a battle she never asked for. Her journey with breast cancer began in January 2019, when she was diagnosed with stage 3 invasive ductal carcinoma at just 34 years old. What started as a concerning symptom—a newly inverted nipple—quickly led to the devastating words: “You have cancer.”
The diagnosis turned her world upside down. But in true Mollie fashion, she didn’t stay down for long. With her husband by her side and her children in her heart, she launched into treatment: 12 rounds of grueling chemotherapy, a double mastectomy, and multiple surgeries. By December 2020, she received the beautiful news that she was in remission—and even more miraculously, she found out she was 13 weeks pregnant. Her baby boy, Dean, was born in October 2021, bringing joy and healing during one of the darkest chapters of her life.
Sadly, the joy was short-lived. In October 2022, Mollie discovered another lump. Tests confirmed the cancer had returned—this time as stage 3 metastatic breast cancer (MBC). Despite more rounds of treatment and another brief remission, the cancer returned once again in August 2024, spreading to her ribs and lymph nodes. Mollie now lives with HER2-positive MBC, an incurable form of breast cancer that requires lifelong chemotherapy.
Every month, Mollie undergoes chemo that leaves her exhausted for days. She battles a lack of appetite, a persistent unpleasant taste in her mouth, intense fatigue, and skin that itches constantly. Yet through it all, she shows up for her family, her friends, and her community with resilience, grace, and unmatched love.
At home, Mollie and her husband share a sweet love story that began with a cheesy pickup line and a beer at Party in the Park. Together, they’ve built a life full of laughter, unforgettable adventures, and family traditions. Their children are the heartbeat of their home:
🌟 Zavier (17) – A dedicated athlete who plays football and runs track.
🌟 Gracie (11) – A talented dancer with a growing love for skincare and makeup.
🌟 Dean (3) – Their miracle baby, full of energy, silliness, and sunshine.
Whether boating in the summer, visiting the pumpkin patch in the fall, or cruising through Alaska, the Stauter family holds tight to every moment they share. Their story is one of love in the face of fear, joy in the midst of pain, and hope even when the future is uncertain.
When we met Mollie, we knew we had to help create more of those cherished memories for her family. Thanks to your incredible generosity, we raised nearly $4,000 to help the Stauters make the most of every moment together. We also launched a Meal Train to ease the day-to-day burdens during Mollie’s chemo weeks, allowing her family to focus on what truly matters—being together.
Your support brought light and love into the lives of a family that gives so much of both to the world.
We are endlessly grateful to everyone who donated, shared their story, or simply took a moment to learn about Mollie. Together, you proved that community can be one of the most powerful forms of medicine.
A special thank you to all of our sponsors and individual donors, without you we would not exist. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
