March 2022 Story - The Wiley Family

Meet the Wiley family. In January 2022 they had two smiling girls, life was good, they had just come back from Disney, the happiest place on earth. They never expected that in just a few days BOTH daughters would be fighting for their lives.

Adelaide was taken to children's hospital for fevers and unexplained bruising. It was then they found out she had a rare condition called Kawasaki Disease. It is a condition that causes inflammation in the walls of some blood vessels in the body. She underwent treatment and was strong enough to go home after a week in the hospital. While Ashely was with Adelaide at Liberty Children's, Jacob was home with her baby sister Aislynn.

When Jacob wasn't able to wake her up from her nap he realized something was wrong and rushed her to the emergency room. They immediately admitted her. Her blood sugars were dangerously low and after a CT found swelling in her brain. Doctors were at a loss as to what caused Aislynn to be so sick. After weeks of testing, blood work, MRI’s, the doctors finally had an answer. Aislynn was diagnosed with an extremely rare genetic condition called Tango2. There has only been 30 reported cases worldwide. This was the first case Cincinnati Children’s Hospital has ever seen. To learn more about Tango2 and Aislynn’s journey at Children’s click here.

Aislynn spent over 2 months in the hospital. She underwent surgery for a g-tube placement. She had some ups and downs but was finally strong enough to go home on March 14th!

Adelaide has fully recovered from Kawasaki disease and will have follow up appointments with cardiology. Aislynn will have a long road to recovery. She will have PT/OT, speech therapy, and tube feedings. The extent of her bran damage is unknown but they are hopeful the brain over time will heal itself.

The Wiley family has weighed heavy on our hearts. They were living every parents worse nightmare. We spent 3 months getting to know them and holding fundraisers. Between a Skyline fundraiser, Who Dey Event by Grace & Mae, “Pray for A” t-shirt fundraiser by Spirited by Design and donations made, we were able to raise $15,500 for The Wiley Family. We also donated $1,000 to the Tango2 Research Foundation. We also showered the whole family with gifts donated and purchased from our amazon wishlist!

We are so grateful we stumbled across their story and were able to be there as a support during the worst days of their lives. The whole community fell in love with those girls and will be praying for The Wiley’s.

Thank you to everyone who shared their story, donated, and prayed, we would never be able to do what we do without amazing do gooders like you! To learn more about ways to help visit ways to help.
